Autumn Reset: A Fresh Start For A Healthier You

September always feels like a turning point, doesn’t it? The month of the equinox, when summer gives way to autumn, brings such a mix of emotions for me. There’s still the joy of late summer—the last warm days, the gentle shift in the air, and the promise of crisp mornings. I love the romance of autumn too: wrapping up for woodland walks, admiring the changing leaves, and enjoying cosy evenings as the nights draw in.

At the same time, September has that unmistakable "back-to-school" energy. For me, it feels a bit like a second New Year—a chance to reset, set new intentions, and bring fresh focus after the slower pace of August. The only challenge? The weeks between now and Christmas seem to fly by, and it’s easy to feel the pressure of unfinished projects and busy schedules.

That’s why I like to see September as an opportunity to pause, reflect, and make small but meaningful changes that support both my wellbeing and my goals.

Why September Is Perfect for a Reset

Many of us set resolutions in January, but I actually think September is a more natural time to reset. The rhythm of the seasons is shifting, routines are re-established, and there’s a renewed sense of motivation in the air.

This is the perfect moment to review your schedule and ask yourself: What do I need right now to feel balanced, energised, and supported?

Setting Realistic Intentions

Here’s a little exercise I often use:

  1. Write a list of your goals or intentions for the next three months—whether that’s personal, work-related, or both.

  2. Look at the list honestly. Can you realistically do all of those things before the end of the year?

  3. Pick the top three that will have the biggest positive impact on your life.

From there, choose the simplest next step you can take right away. It doesn’t need to be dramatic—it just needs to be doable.

Simple Ideas for Your September Fresh Start

  • Book one gym or yoga class a week and commit to it

  • Dedicate one evening a week to self-care and rest

  • Focus on a great breakfast rather than trying to overhaul your entire diet

  • Schedule a day to finally tackle that household project

  • Join a group or class that supports a hobby you love (accountability helps!)

  • Start the day with a glass of water

  • Take a walk on your lunchbreak

  • Set gentle boundaries around screen time

  • Book a reflexology or yoga session to give yourself space to reset

Remember, it’s not about fixing everything at once. Small, consistent steps can make the biggest difference over time.

Giving Yourself Grace

One phrase I recently heard really stuck with me: “There are no perfect solutions, only trade-offs.”

We can spend so much energy chasing the "perfect" schedule or routine, but life will always ebb and flow. If we accept that, and give ourselves permission to adjust along the way, we feel more in control—and far less overwhelmed.

Supporting Your Wellbeing

Something that always helps me is scheduling regular treatments. Having that time set aside to pause, reset, and look after myself is invaluable. Reflexology and yoga are wonderful ways to reduce stress, boost energy, and keep your health on track.

I recommend a treatment every 3–6 weeks for general wellbeing—but if you’ve just had a busy summer with kids off school or work deadlines piling up, booking sooner might be exactly what you need.

If you’d like to start Autumn with a fresh focus on your health and wellbeing, I’d love to support you. You can get in touch here to book your reflexology or one-to-one yoga session, or simply book online
